Hal tersebut ia sampaikan saat memimpin upacara di Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) Negeri 1 Mlonggo, Jepara pada Senin (12/6/2023).
Edy menjelaskan, memilih pemimpin masa depan hendaknya tidak berdasar pada uang yang mereka berikan alias politik uang.
Menurutnya, pemilih harus memilih sesuai pilihan hati dan akhlak yang baik. Pasalnya, pilihan mereka akan menentukan nasib bangsa ke depan.
“Pilihlah pemimpin berdasarkan hati dan akhlak yang baik,” kata Edy.
Ia menambahkan, generasi milenial harus berani menolak politik uang agar calon yang terpilih bekerja dengan sungguh-sungguh serta mengabdi kepada bangsa.
“Setidaknya, uang yang diterima tidak boleh mengubah pilihan dari kontestan yang karakternya baik,” tambahnya.
Sekda Jepara berharap, perbedaan pilihan tidak menjadikan perpecahan. Oleh karena itu, sikap humanis dan pertisipasi aktif menjadi kunci menjaga keamanan dan kedamaian.
“Tetap kesatuan menjaga, walaupun pilihan kita berbeda,” tegasnya.
